As part of the Fall of Freedom initiative, Cristin Tierney Gallery and Janet Biggs are pleased to support Beyond the Walls, a community-centered event organized by Families for Freedom on Saturday, October 3rd, at 7:00 pm. The program will feature a short film screening and discussion with the filmmaker, exploring the impact of U.S. immigration policies on individuals, families, and communities. The evening will also introduce the work of Families for Freedom, an organization supporting immigrant families facing detention and deportation.
The gallery is additionally pleased to support Janet Biggs and Terry Berkowitz’s The Survival Project. The Survival Project is a collaborative effort to communicate vital public issues to Americans. They have collected donations for various humanitarian aid programs, funding legal fees for refugees, asylum-seekers, and individuals illegally detained by ICE; abortion clinics in states neighboring those where abortions have been criminalized; and radio ads in swing states during election years.
Also on October 3rd, Art at a Time Like This’s Take One Action will launch a fleet of mobile digital trucks on the streets of NYC bearing images and messages from a wide range of artists, including Biggs and Berkowitz. The truck billboards will suggest ways that civic engagement can save our democracy. They launch from the gallery at 12:00 pm on Saturday and will stop at cultural institutions and community events throughout the city.
